Friday 17th July 2020

It’s the final day of the school year! Mr Smallman, Miss Clark and Miss Kaur would like to say a huge thank you to all the children and staff in Year 2. We know we haven’t spent a full year together but we think you’ve been an amazing year group and we’re so glad we had you in our classes and had the opportunity to teach you this year. Thank you for your hard work and we hope you have a lovely, relaxing Summer!

Everybody loves playing ‘The Floor is Lava’ games. Have a go at making up your own game and think about how agile you are as you play the game.

Today we are going to practise telling the time. There are lots of ways you can challenge yourself with the time. What time is it now? What time is it when you have your lunch? What time is it when you brush your teeth before bed?

Take a look at this picture called A Bigger Splash by David Hockney....

What kind of place is this?

Do you think this place is where we are, the UK? Why or why not?

Are there any people in the painting? If so, where?

How did they get into the pool?

Can we hear anything?

What is the weather like? How do we know

Hold up a pretend paintbrush and show how you think the artist painted the splash. Was it fast or slow? Messy or neat?

Create your own version of the painting but changing the weather. How would it be different on a stormy day? A snowy day? A foggy day?

Although we didn’t manage to get through a full year together at school, let’s try and be positive and think about the good memories from this year. There were so many fantastic moments in Year 2 such as our amazing Christmas performance and our trip to The Deep not to mention all of the wonderful work created around The Great Fire of London, The Little Mermaid, Queen Victoria and many more. What were your highlights of the year?

Hello Year 2. We hope you have all had a lovely weekend and are ready for the final week of online learning. Can you believe it’s the last week of the school year? Let’s make the last week a good one!
