Year 1 Home Learning

We will be uploading activities to this page every week. In addition to this you may want to have a look at the lessons being published daily on The Oak National Academy here. There are videos of teachers delivering the lessons. You may also want to have a look at the BBC Bitesize content for Year 1 here too or even on the red button on your TV.

Please note...our free access to Emile will come to an end at the end of the month so children's accounts will close.

Week beginning: Monday 29th June

Starting this week we will be uploading your home learning activities weekly. Every Monday you will receive 5 days of activities. If you are attending school you will complete the RED HIGHLIGHTED activities in school within your bubbles. (DO NOT COMPLETE THESE AT HOME IF YOU ARE ATTENDING SCHOOL) You can complete the rest of the activities during the three days you are at home. If you are NOT attending school you can complete ALL of the activities.

  • What makes this animal dangerous, do you think?

Challenge: Write a sentence describing the hippo in the water.

This picture is called ‘Lost’. Can you draw five things you would like to have with you if you were lost in a forest in the middle of nowhere? Label each item and explain why it might be valuable.

Below is the nursery rhyme ‘Hickory Dickory Dock’. Practise reading it with someone at home. Can you learn it off by heart? Think of some actions to help you remember what comes next!

Challenge: Copy out the nursery rhyme in your neatest handwriting and draw a picture to illustrate it.

MATHS

Identify each of the coins  from the sheet below and order them according to their value, starting with the smallest value first. (click on the image to download)

When we have an amount we add up the value of the money like this 1p + 1p + 1p = __ this is the same as 1 + 1 + 1 = ___, so 5p + 5p + 5p = 15p this is the same as 5 + 5 + 5 = 15.

Complete the activity below. You need to calculate the amounts and then put them in order from smallest to largest.

Find the total amount of money in the jar? Remember to look closely at the coin to find its value before adding the coins together. Click the link to find the worksheet best suited to you.
