Phonics
In phonics we have started learning our sounds. Have a go at practising saying your sounds.

Adults, here is a video showing you how to say the sound correctly to help you model to your child.

The children also LOVE watching the videos of the songs that accompany each sound.

Here are some examples of activities we do in Nursery to practise using these sounds:

At home you could give your children a range of words and say them slowly. Ask your child if they can hear the sound.

In Nursery we use 'Phoneme Fingers' to help with sounding out words.

Here is a video with a demonstration of how to do this. At this stage your child does NOT have to be able to do this on their own...they are purely listening for the sound you give them.

If you dont feel comfortable doing this, just say the words very slowly.

Wider Curriculum
