Year 6 Leavers and Transition

This page will be updated with information around Y6 leavers and transition. Please keep your eye out for updates. We will also let you know when there are updates on the App and on Facebook.

Update from Cockburn - 29.06.20

Year 7 form tutors will be in contact with Parents and Carers to introduce themselves and answer any questions that you may have.

Update from Mount St Mary's - 10.06.20

Over the coming days, staff will be making initial contact with parents and carers. Their next steps are to hopefully provide a transition project which will help the students familiarise themselves with the school and systems. The school have also informed us that they are looking at how to meet with students, even if this is virtually.

They are also looking to put as much information on their website as possible for you to access, so please regularly check there for more information.

Update from Bishop Young CE Academy - 04.06.20

You should have recieved a pack from Bishop Young Academy which included a letter from their Assistant Principle and a transition pack to complete with your child.  Please keep an eye on www.bishopyoungacademy.co.uk/transition where the school will keep you posted with regular updates.

Update from Rodillian Academy - 03.06.20

Rodillian Academy have informed us that they will be contacting all parents/carers via Edulink this week to introduce themselves. This will hopefully provide an opportunity for you and your child to put some names to faces and provide information/answer questions any that you may have. The key staff at Rodillian have also created a video on their website that they will direct you to.

Leavers' T-Shirts

Each year we organise leavers’ t-shirts to be designed for our Year 6 children for parents to purchase.

This year, due to the current situation, this has proved extremely difficult, but I am pleased to advise you that we have finally managed to secure a supplier.

The t-shirts normally cost £7.50 each, However, this year, as we are unable to hold a graduation ceremony or leavers concert (due to social distancing guidelines), as a school we would like to purchase your child a t-shirt as a leaving gift.

The t-shirts are white with the school logo embroidered on the front left chest and the back of the shirt contains a full list of the children’s names listed below the heading ‘Leavers 2020’.

The t-shirts are available in the following sizes:

9-10                   30cm chest

11-13                 32cm chest

Small adults   34cm chest

If you would like a t-shirt for your child, please contact the school office before Friday 29th May 2020 (mainoffice@beestonprimary.org)

Yorkshire Evening Post Leavers' Special

Usually at this time of year we take photos of our Year 6 pupils moving onto high school which are published in the Yorkshire Evening Post Class of 2020 supplement.  As you will be acutely aware, these are not usual times, so class photos do not appear to be an option for us this year.

However, we still feel that it is important that we help this year's leavers celebrate the time that they have spent at your school, and given current circumstances, show their appreciation at the same time.

With this in mind, and with your help, we are hoping to publish a 'Thank You Teacher' souvenir edition that will help recreate the feel of our traditional 'Class of...' supplement. The aim is to give this year's leavers a chance to appear in print alongside their classmates, as previous classes have done over the years, and at the same time, deliver a message of thanks to staff.

Please see the full details from the Yorkshire Evening Post on the letter below or download it here.
